THE Republican primary to find a nominee to run against President Obama in November of this year is sprinkled with quite the variety of ‘colorful’ candidates; one of whom is Rick Santorum. This former senator is the right’s answer to patriotism and the left’s answer to Zyprexa. Although many pundits excuse the negative, vitriol tone that Rick (and many other U.S. politicians) have towards anyone who doesn’t think the world wasn’t created in 6 days, and attribute most of this nonsense to election year politic-ing; it is important to remember that election seasons are becoming longer and longer. From council and mayoral, to state legislature, to gubernatorial, congressional, senatorial, and finally federal, every year is an election year. So the rhetoric stays, and keeps getting nuttier as time goes on.
